Everyone else was asleep. You had the remote, the volume turned low, and another music video somehow felt like the most important thing in the world.
The house was quiet in that particular Indian way — ceiling fan ticking, fridge humming, distant street dogs. The television threw a blue rectangle across the dark bedroom. Somewhere between late-night chart shows and random music videos, the night became a private cinema. You were not discovering songs so much as living inside them.
