Terms of use

Took Me Back is a free editorial catalogue of curated memory scenes with soundtracks. By using the site you agree to use it for personal, non-commercial listening and browsing, and not to scrape, invent, or misrepresent playlist or track identifiers.

Playback happens through third-party providers (such as YouTube and Spotify) under their own terms. We may change, pause, or remove memories when a soundtrack is still being assembled or when rights require it.

Content & rights

We curate pointers to music available on third-party platforms. We do not claim ownership of the underlying recordings, compositions, or official artwork unless explicitly stated.

If you are a rights holder and believe something should be removed or corrected, contact us and we will review promptly.

Privacy

We aim to collect as little as practical. Preferences such as sound unlocked, dismissed prompts, and cookie choices may be stored in your browser's local storage.

If you create an account, we store your email, a hashed password, and any memories you keep in your pocket, plus optional memory suggestions you send. We do not sell personal data.

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM) to load measurement tags such as Google Analytics. These help us understand which memories people open. Account data, suggestions, and local preferences are separate from GTM. We do not sell personal data.

No professional advice

This site is for cultural and entertainment purposes. Descriptions of eras, places, and memories are editorial, not historical or legal authority.

Presence counts

On-site "here now" counts reflect near-realtime presence among open sessions. They are atmospheric — not a marketing census or guarantee of concurrent listeners.
